ELl welcomes suggestions for article and book topics and encourages the submission of draft manuscripts and book proposals
“As a non-lawyer working in environmental policy, ELI has been a source for background and in-depth discussions on key aspects of environmental law that helps me do my job. I regularly attend the seminars, book talks, and 101 lecture series, and in the summers I send my interns to them. ELI does a great job of bringing experts together across so many different topic areas in the field…encouraging my interns to attend the [summer school series] often improves their ability to research and analyze policy, write memos, and better understand our work.” —Eliza Cava, Policy Analyst, Defenders of Wildlife
Research Reports
ELI publishes Research Reports available for free download that present the analysis and conclusions of the policy studies ELI undertakes to improve environmental law and policy. These reports contribute to education of the profession and disseminate diverse points of view and opinions to stimulate a robust and creative exchange of ideas. Those publications, which express opinions of the authors and not necessarily those of the Institute, its Board of Directors, or funding organizations, exemplify ELI’s commitment to dialogue with all sectors.
Periodicals
The ELR—The Environmental Law Reporter, available online and in print, is the flagship periodical of ELI. Issued monthly, the attorney-edited journal provides the most-often cited analysis of environmental, sustainability, natural resources, energy, toxic tort, and land use law and policy. The entire suite of ELR products, including archives that go back more than 50 years, are available via ELR Online, an essential research tool for attorneys, policymakers, and the academic community.
The Environmental Forum, our bimonthly policy journal. This unique magazine is an ELI members-only subscription benefit offering cutting-edge analysis by expert authors drawn from all sectors of the environmental debate.
For more than 35 years, ELI's National Wetlands Newsletter provided wetland professionals across many disciplines with the most accurate and up-to-date information on wetlands policy. But due to economic constraints, ELI suspended the National Wetlands Newsletter in 2016. Fortunately, the archives are available to ELI members. Nonmembers may purchase articles for a small fee.
The Journal of Environment and Energy Law (JEEL), managed by George Washington University Law School and published twice a year as a supplement to the Environmental Law Reporter. JEEL focuses on both energy-related and environment-related legal and policy issues and their intersections. Articles address international treaties, legislative initiatives in other countries, U.S. federal and state legislation, and case law developments.
