Martha Marrapese
Martha Marrapese is a partner with Wiley Rein LLP, where she works in firm’s Environment & Safety and Consumer Product Regulation practices. Ms. Marrapese focuses on emerging technologies in the industrial chemicals, alternative energy, antimicrobial pesticides, plastic recycling and food sectors.
Ms. Marrapese facilitates the registration of emerging technologies in the global economy with a particular emphasis on biotechnology and nanotechnology applications. She has an expertise in the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) and its counterparts in Canada, the European Union, and China. She provides legal counsel related to EPA, FDA, and associated regulatory needs for bio-based products and their production platforms including yeast, algae, bacteria and plants. Ms. Marrapese is the immediate past Chair of the Pesticide, Chemical Regulation and Right-to-Know Committee (PCRRTK) of the American bar Association (ABA) Section on Energy, Environment and Resources(SEER). Through SEER, under Ms. Marrapese’s leadership PCRRTK issued a series of legal briefing papers on TSCA Reform.
A recipient of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), Next Generation Leadership and Service Award, Ms. Marrapese served as a U.S. delegate to the International Standards Organization (ISO) TC-299 Committee on Nanotechnologies from 2005-2013 and chaired Working Group 1 Nomenclature and Terminology, for the U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to TC-299.
