Assessing Status, Trends, and Condition of Wetlands in the United States

In 2006, the FWS reported for the first time that wetland gains exceeded wetland losses. While this is encouraging news, the data trend shows we continue to lose many of our most valuable wetland resources. To establish a baseline of wetland quality in the United States, EPA is taking steps to implement a national assessment of wetland condition.
