EPA Announces New State Wetlands Grant Initiative

There is good news from the Environmental Protection Agency for states that want to develop their own wetland protection programs, but are restrained by their lack of funds. Congress recently appropriated a separate add-on to EPA's FY90 extramural account that is designated specifically for the development of state wetlands protective programs to protect wetlands since the early 1980s, funding for these efforts has often been limited by the keen competition for wetlands protection program monies. Fortunately, with this recent congressional appropriation, this trend is beginning to change.
