New Jersey's Proposed Freshwater Wetlands Protection Act

Currently pending before the New Jersey Legislature is legislation designed to preserve and protect freshwater wetlands resources. The purpose of the legislation, commonly referred to as the freshwater wetlands protection act (Act), is to provide for review of development in and around freshwater wetlands “to better protect the citizens of the state from storm damage , and depletion of water supplies, flood and storm damage, and depletion of natural resources which serve both recreational and commercial purposes.”
