Summary
The New Jeesey Pinelands, or "Pine Barrens," comprise over one million acres of forests, farms, and towns in the nation's most densely populated state. About one-quarter of the Pinelands is comprised of wetlands, which support most of the region's rare plant and animal species. The state's Pinelands planning commission is currently conducting a three-year review of the area's comprehensive land use plan to determine if any revisions or amendments should be made.
