Summary
Over the last decade, the National Park Service has worked cooperatively with public agencies and private organizations to help identify and conserve greenway values. This has been accomplished primarily through the State and Local Rivers Conservation Assistance Program, a program designed to help the governments, private groups, and landowners prepare conservation plans. By providing technical assistance, the Park Service can 1) focus the priorities of various interests and 2) promote more comprehensive, objective decisionmaking and conflict avoidance between competing area uses.
